President Pride of Performane award to Mr. Shafique Farooqi

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shafique Farooqi, one of Pakistan’s most distinguished artists and art educators, has been honored with the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in recognition of his 65 years of remarkable contribution to the field of art.

Born in Sialkot in 1942, Prof. Farooqi’s artistic journey is a blend of passion, devotion, and spiritual reflection. Over the course of more than six decades, he has created a vast and diverse body of work that includes over 14,000 paintings and 110 solo exhibitions across the world. His art, deeply rooted in Sufism and Islamic aesthetics, reflects a lifelong pursuit of spiritual enlightenment and the unity of existence.

Farooqi’s signature concept, the “Journey of Line,” explores the metaphysical and symbolic power of the line — representing continuity, infinity, and divine connection. Through his innovative techniques in calligraphy, symbolic art, watercolor, and mixed media, he has redefined the relationship between art and spirituality, inspiring generations of artists.

He has served as Director of the Islamic Art and Craft Department at Minhaj University Lahore, where he not only nurtured young artists but also established a Spiritual Art Center — a creative and meditative space dedicated to the exploration of divine beauty through art.

Throughout his 65-year journey, Prof. Farooqi’s works have been exhibited and gifted in countries including the USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Turkey, France, Canada, Sudan, Holland, and Pakistan. His art stands as a bridge between traditional heritage and modern expression, carrying Pakistan’s cultural and spiritual message to the world.

Receiving the Pride of Performance marks a monumental milestone in his lifelong dedication to art and humanity. This prestigious national honor recognizes not only his individual brilliance but also his role in elevating Pakistan’s artistic identity on the global stage.
